Jesus’ Jewels

IMG_9963B.jpg

Jesus’ Jewels is the official name of the Allen Temple AME Church’s ministry to girls from thirteen to seventeen years of age. Our goal is to help girls see themselves in the context of their relationship to Jesus Christ, while discipling them and instilling values that are Biblically based.

Our belief is that society is insensitive to the negative impact that the cultural values and media images are having on young, impressionable girls, and as such, our plan is to be intentional in counteracting those negative stereotypes.

It is only though a deliberate encounter with a holy God that we will be able to turn these gifts from heaven into the jewels that they were created to be, brilliant and radiant in His sight in accordance with Revelation 21:11.

Lay Organization

The  following are the objectives and purpose of the Lay Organization:

  1. To create a love and appreciation for the history and principles of African Methodism.

  2. To keep the memory of Richard Allen alive.

  3. To respect the constituted authority of the AME Church.

  4. To stimulate and educate the laity in the total program of the AME Church.

  5. To study the Discipline & Doctrines of the AME Church to and learn the laws of the Church.

  6. To encourage financial support of the Church’s programs.

  7. To teach Methodism and stewardship to the youth.

The laity is comprised of every member of a church that is not ordained.  The organized laity is a separate organization within the church with the sole purpose of perpetuating the tradition of the church.

The Lay Organization also serves on the front lines of social action within our local community (e.g. voter education and registration drives).  It is incumbent upon everyone to become involved in our social action agenda such that the church becomes catalytic for positive change in our community, our city, our state, our country, and our world.
