Rev. Dr. Hugh B. Marriott

The Reverend Dr. Hugh B. Marriott is the Pastor of the Allen Temple AME Church, located in Mount Vernon, NY.  After completing his training at the AME ministerial Institute in the NY Annual Conference, Rev. Marriott was appointed by Bishop Gregory G.M. Ingram to the pastorate in June 2013.  There he hopes to encourage the faith of the congregation by telling them to "Just Believe!" as he engages them to be more missional in the neighborhood and across the world.

As a former executive at one of the nation's largest telecommunications service providers, Dr. Marriott left after a successful 16-year career to pursue active ministry.  Dr. Marriott serves tri-vocationally as Pastor, Adjunct Professor in the department of Managerial Sciences at the Long Island University (Brooklyn campus), and as Staff Chaplain at the Westchester Medical Health Center in Valhalla, NY.  

His educational accomplishments include a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, a Master of Science degree in Telecommunications Management, a Master of Divinity degree in Theology and Missions, and a Doctor of Ministry degree in Christian Leadership in a Global Context.  He is also a Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) with the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC).  With his vast corporate experience, Dr. Marriott conducts leadership workshops across the connectional AME Church in an effort to help strengthen and educate local congregations on the merits of having disciplined principles and processes.  His ministry reach is international with annual pilgrimages to Guatemala, South America, and his thought provoking, convicting, and inspiring message has even been featured nationally on The Joe Madison Show on SiriusXM Radio.  Ministerially, he serves as a member of the Board of Examiners, the Assistant Secretary of the Board of Trustees, as well as Bishop Julius H. McAllister, Sr’s., attendant in the New York Annual Conference. He was also elected and serves as the First Vice President of the AME Ministerial Alliance of NY and Vicinity.  

Dr. Marriott is a Silver Life member of the NAACP, serves on the Board of Directors for The Westchester County Crimestoppers Inc., and Vice-President of the African American Men of Westchester (AAMW) Inc.  He is also a member of the Mayor’s Committee on Judicial Selection for the City of Mount Vernon. Dr. Marriott is a recipient of several awards including the 2004 Harlem YMCA Black Achiever in Industry Award (BAI), and the 2003 Verizon Excellence Award (VEA), for his contributions to the recovery effort from the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack.

Dr. Marriott resides in Westchester County with his wife, and they have one grown son and daughter-in-law, one teenager daughter, and three grandsons.
