Rev. Kenneth Shider

Rev. Kenneth Shider is an ordained local elder serving at the Allen Temple AME Church. A native of Cottageville, South Carolina (20 miles west of Charleston), Rev. Shider grew up in the church and was very active at St. John AME Church in Cottageville, SC, where he received his initial Christian education. As a member of the Young People’s Division (YPD), he attended Sunday School Conventions, State and Annual Conferences, and other important meetings of the church.

As an adolescent, he was educated in the Colleton County School System and is a graduate of South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, SC, where he received a Bachelor’s of Arts degree.

Prior to serving at Allen Temple, Rev. Shider served at Israel AME Church of Albany, NY for nearly 30 years where he led the Sons of Allen men’s ministry, The Chancel, Male and Mass Choirs, teaching the Adult Sunday School, while serving in the Lay Organization, and on the Trustee, and Steward Boards. At Allen Temple he serves as the facilitator of The Master’s Men’s Sons of Allen ministry, local Director of Christian Education, and on the Male Choir Team.

Rev. Shider currently works for New York State and Local Government in an administrative capacity for well over 28 years in the area of Minority and Women-Owned Business, Affirmative Action, and Diversity Management. In addition, he has owned his own consulting business and conducted training for professionals on all levels.

He has a passion for serving God and is excited about ministering to The Lord’s People.
